A standardized promotion for the games release and a low level response from critics, our personal opinion is that this game does do the movie franchise justice. If you do buy Conquest, you'll probably want to start with the single-player campaign. It's brief -- it won't take you more than a few hours to blast through all 15 levels, although you can go in later at a higher difficulty level. Playing the solo mode is a good way to get acquainted with the game's four character classes.

Don't expect to spend too much time playing as your favorite heroes. While you will occasionally get to step into the shoes of Frodo or Aragorn, most of your time will be spent taking control of a nameless warrior, scout, mage or archer. Each of the four has different abilities: The warrior can hit things with his sword. The scout can turn invisible and back-stab enemies, killing them instantly. The mage can cast lightning spells and heal himself and allies. The archer can (spoiler!) shoot arrows.

For the first time, play as Evil characters in a brand new, 'Evil' campaign. Battle through scenarios after Frodo failed to destroy the One Ring; it's good to be bad. Acclaimed Battlefront gameplay in a fantasy setting allows players to choose the way they fight, as Warrior, Archer, Mage or Scout in melee and ranged combat. Online multiplayer - pick your allegiance then battle in 16-player online clashes, or in 4-player co-op campaigns. Local multiplayer - split-screen with up to 4 players competitively or 2 player co-op. A massive cast of characters & weapons adds great depth to the gameplay: Heroes, Wargs, Ents, Oliphaunts, Cave-trolls, the Balrog, Nazgul, ballistae, and more.
